Demystifying Evangelism
A few hours before I will be teaching and equipping a group of daughters of the Most High on street evangelism, the Spirit of the Lord has asked me to prepare this post, as the teaching will be made available to all too (at the end of this post).
Love Love Love
Before I go any further, please, never, ever forget these things:
God is love
Love is the greatest
Faith, hope and love remain, and the greatest of these is love
Do everything in love
Love your neighbour as yourself
Love your enemies
Never forget John 3:16
Never forget Romans 10:13-15
Why I Hardly Ever Use The Word “Evangelism”
Firstly, I hardly ever use or say the word evangelism in my day to day life, including when I am with others who Jesus has set free.
Why?
In the world we have all lived our lives hearing and coming in to agreement with different titles or ways in which to divide society and put people in to groups. When we allow ourselves and others to be labelled, these labels can not only define us, but they can absolutely limit our God-given potential in life.
I’m NOT An Evangelist!
For some people this may come as a surprise, but I don’t see myself or describe myself as an evangelist.
If someone asks me to describe myself, I say:
“I am a born-again disciple of Jesus!”
You’re NOT An Evangelist!
Just in case you were ready to leave this page, thinking that this isn’t for you as you are not an evangelist… hallelujah!!
You are right! You are not an evangelist!
If someone asks you to describe yourself, you can say:
“I am a born-again disciple of Jesus!”
Evangelism Is Simply Obeying God’s Commandments
Evangelism IS NOT some special calling that a handful of people have that means they go out in to the world tell people about Jesus.
Evangelism IS simply obeying God’s commandments that He gives all believers in the Holy Bible.
What Does God Command All Believers To Do?
This is where itchy ears won’t be tickled. This is the Word of God. Holy Spirit conviction is coming…
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!
Matthew 10:8 NLT
“I tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels. But anyone who denies me here on earth will be denied before God’s angels.
Luke 12:9-9 NLT
Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.
James 4:17 NLT
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
James 1:22 NLT
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.
Romans 1:16 NLT
Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”
John 14:21 NLT
“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’
Matthew 7:21-23 NLT
You Have Beautiful Feet!
In case you didn’t know it, you have been chosen to live with beautiful feet!
Here is why.
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”
Romans 10:13-15 NLT
The Harvest Is Great!
Jesus tells us in His Word:
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
Matthew 9:36-38
The Harvest Is EVERYWHERE!
So we know the harvest is great, but WHERE is the harvest? It the harvest in your country, in your city, in your town, in your village, on your street?
The harvest is everywhere you see other people
The harvest is on the streets
The harvest is at the shop
The harvest is at the supermarket
The harvest is at the doctors
The harvest is at the hospital
The harvest is at the dentist
The harvest is at the launderette
The harvest is in the office
The harvest is in the boardroom
The harvest is at school
The harvest is at the sports day
The harvest is at the sports stadium
The harvest is at the petrol station
The harvest is at the cafe
The harvest is in the restaurant
The harvest is at the airport
The harvest is on the plane
The harvest is at the train station
The harvest is on the train
The harvest is at the traffic lights
The harvest is at the car repair garage
The harvest is up the mountain
The harvest is on the canal
The harvest is on the phone when you receive an unexpected sales call
The harvest is when a delivery driver arrives at your home
