Experiencing The Tangible Presence Of God
Yesterday one of my brothers in Christ Jaqualin Pennyman, one of the most humble men of God I am honoured to have as a Kingdom connection, shared a post on Facebook which resonated deeply with me.
Jaqualin was sharing his experiences and wisdom of being truly still and waiting to come in to the presence of God, the tangible presence of God our Father in Heaven.
This morning I've been led to share Jaqualin's post here, so that my brothers and sisters on LinkedIn have the opportunity to read and receive this divine wisdom, wisdom to stay with us for the rest of our lives.
Here is the message from Jaqualin:
The Lord put it on my heart to share about contemplative or the prayer of waiting so I'm going to do it. There are many of you who know about praying shouting, worshipping or even speaking in tongues to get into the presence but not many know about the quiet or stillness.
But did you know you can come into the same or a very powerful presence of God by doing nothing. I mean nothing. For example what I do is sit in a room alone with God, low light, as still as possible, chair to the wall, in absolute silence, eyes closed and and just meditate or focus upon Jesus. I meditate on Jesus. As I'm doing this and everything around me silences away the presence of the Lord comes.
This is the art of waiting. God is found in silence as well as noise. He had to teach me that. I'll go and say and do absolutely nothing. I sit in 100% silence clearing myself from all distractions..Tuning out the head to tune into the heart. If I get distracted mind starts wondering while I am sitting in absolute silence I just focus on the name Jesus over and over.
Sometimes it may take an exceptionally long time like an hour and a half just sitting sitting in absolute silence, but then this presence comes! When this overwhelming peace comes and heavy presence just breathtaking almost that's when you know you've hit the spot.
You're developing spiritual awareness as you learn and feel the moment the Spirit of God comes into your spirit/room you are. As you learn to "feel" your insides. What I mean is feeling what the Spirit of God is doing inside of you. That is your spirit man. Here's the conclusion of this the glory increases when you call attention to it. The reason most people don't get to experience more in the Spirit is because they're not quiet or still enough. Silence helps tune out the head/natural and tune into your heart/spirit. Sometimes you have to cut out all the ruckus or all the things you think you do to get in the presence of God and just be still.
An accompanying scripture
“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
Psalm 46:10
