God’s 1 In 4,500,000 Perfect Car Sale
Yesterday I sold my dad’s car, which I had been blessed to drive for the last 3 years.
This is the testimony of what happened - EVERYTHING that God wrote in His book for my life before the beginning of time (Psalm 139:16).
You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
Psalm 139:16
A couple of months ago God spoke to me and said He was going to bless my family and I with an upgraded car.
God fulfilled His promise by leading us gloriously to a large luxury family car that had the same quality feel as the £80,000 brand new top of the range Land Rover Discovery that we’d got on a 3 year business contract lease about 7 years ago (when I was earning lots of money living in total sin). It has double the MPG as the £80,000 car too.
I now needed to fully valet my dad’s car ready for photographing so I can put it for sale on the UK’s largest car sales website, AutoTrader.
The car needed a deep clean, so I started to consider finding a local valeter.
I spoke to the manager on the caravan site we currently live on, to explain my plans for selling the car. She suggested speaking to one of the other residents on the caravan site who has a mobile valeting business.
I got his number and gave him a call, and he shared with me that all his cleaning equipment is currently in storage but he should be getting it out the following week.
I asked him to give me a call when I can get him booked in.
Weeks went by and his valet van stayed parked up in the same position, not moving day to day. I waited patiently, but after about 4 weeks I decided to do the full valet myself with help from 2 friends.
Once the car was sale ready I took a range of photos and downloaded the AutoTrader app to get my advert set up.
When it came to choosing which payment option to dictate how long the advert will run and whether it gets any special visibility or visual treatment, the Lord said to me “The most basic 2 week option will be sufficient”.
I paid, and within an hour my car was live and available to view by their 9.6 million unique monthly visitors.
Day 1/14 I speak to the caravan site manager again, informing her that the car is now on AutoTrader. I mentioned about whether it’s worth promoting on the caravan site too ok the other residents, but she said that they don’t want trade being carried out on site, which I completely understood.
Day 1/14 I receive an enquiry, a man asking a few questions. I responded, but he didn’t come back to me.
Day 4/14 I receive an enquiry from another man. This is what it said:
Hi , this will sound odd , but I've just seen your astra for sale and realised it's on the same campsite I am on! If it's still available could I have a look tomorrow? Thanks ,
I respond, and he replies informing me the car is for his daughter. He said there’s no rush to arrange a viewing.
Day 6/14 I email him asking if he and his daughter are around today for a viewing. He replies and shares that his daughter bought another car that morning. I reply and bless him and his family.
Day 10/14 I receive an enquiry from a woman asking if the car has had the timing belt changed and does it have a service history. I didn’t see the email that day.
Day 10/14 I receive an email from AutoTrader saying that there are only 3 days to go until my advert expires, so they encouraged me to extend it. The Lord says to me “No you don’t need to extend it.”
Day 11/14 I receive a 2nd enquiry from the same woman, this time also providing her phone number. I also receive a call from the woman, and she informs me it was her dad who enquired about the car a week earlier, and that the car she had bought had actually been a write-off previously, so she sent it back. I respond to her questions and she says that she will go to a garage to get a quote for the work needed.
Day 12/14 the woman emails asking if she can come and view the car at 5.30pm that day. I am not going to be around, so I suggest Saturday morning at 9am, to which she agrees.
Day 14/14 the woman and her dad come and view the car. I recognise her dad from the caravan site, and it was a pleasure to meet them both. They look around, I share a bit about the car history, then they go for a test drive.
After a short while they return, and after a short discussion, the dad gives an offer. I say that I will ask my dad if he is happy with it, then I will come back to them this morning.
I get the green light from my dad, so I call the daughter, and shortly after she comes back, I provide a receipt, her dad also comes back over, the money is transferred, and the sale is complete.
I asked the woman if she had faith to which she responded “Yes, everything happens for a reason.” I gift her with an Agape Love of God brochure, and she drives off with her dad.
Later that day I get an email from AutoTrader saying my advert has now expired.
To conclude:
I received 3 enquiries out of the over 4.5 million visitors in the 14 days the car was advertised
I received 1 viewing out of the over 4.5 million visitors
The 1 viewer was the 3rd enquiry, and her dad had made the 2nd enquiry
The 1 viewer’s dad currently lives in a caravan about 100 yards from where I live in my caravan
This really was God’s perfect, 1 in 4,500,000 car sale. Wow!!
