Jesus Heals A Demon-Possessed Teenage Boy Up A Mountain
In late September 2022 when I was on mission in Rwanda, on our drive down a mountain having spent about 4 hours with over 200 men, women and children in a village, the Lord told me He would like us to head up another mountain and have some prayer time and worshipping.
I told my brother Ben what the Lord had said, and a few minutes later Ben told me that we will go up a mountain to a beautiful wood where people go to relax and pray.
We got to this woods and Ben and I, with our Bibles & Ben’s guitar, started to slowly walk in to the woods which sloped downhill. There were just a handful of people in the woods, each appearing calm and contemplative.
As we continued walking down waiting to find the right place to sit down for pray and worshipping, the Lord by His Spirit was just gently nudging us to keep going down the slope. Ben said “let’s sit down here” but as I looked slightly further down the hill, I could see a bit of an opening in the trees where you could look out over Kigali. I suggested we head down to there, and Ben agreed.
We could see there were 4-5 people at this area. When we got there a minute later, we smiled at them, and with them was a young teenage boy lying down relaxing. I smiled at this young man and he gave a slight smile in return.
Ben and I were joined by our 2 brothers who are supporting the 10 day mission. I was led to pray for us all, then Ben began to lead worship with his guitar.
I got my Bible out of my bag and opened it with my thumb. It opened on page 492, and my eyes were immediately drawn to the top left of the page at Jeremiah 11 verses 12-14.
As I started reading the Word, they seemed so suitable for what we had experienced earlier today with the villagers living in poverty. We had given out provisions of oil and wheat and seen the glory of the Lord come upon the villagers, and it had been absolutely beautiful.
I took a photo of my Bible of this scripture whilst looking out through the gap in the trees.
A few minutes later as we were worshipping, one of the 4 women who were close by with an older man and the young boy, came over to Ben to speak to him. Ben then came over to me and told me that she has asked if I would pray for her son as he is very very sick.
The Lord asked me to get Ben to continue worshipping with Waymaker first. As the worship continued, I asked Ben to ask the boys mum what is it that he is sick with. His mum told Ben it is his head. He gets incredible pain in his head, and at different times his behaviour suddenly turns very dangerous, and he can sometimes tear his clothes off. He can frighten his mum with his outbursts, and sometimes she has had to flee her own home.
I went and knelt down at this young boy, who had his head down. I got hold of his hand and asked him to look at me, but he found it very difficult. As the worship continued, I was speaking to the boy, speaking life in to him by telling him what Jesus did for him on the cross. He wasn’t able to hold eye contact with me.
I went closer to him and put my other hand on his head. As I looked in to his eyes, I asked him to declare that Jesus is the Lord of his life. He gave a subtle but clear no whilst slowing shaking his head and smirking. This young man was in strong darkness and I knew what I was facing.
As I continued to speak the Word in to his life as the worship continued, one of my brothers came over to translate as I was speaking. Slowly, the young boy began to show some life, and he started to say amen at some of the words I was speaking.
After maybe 5 minutes with the young boy now looking at me me and seeming more open hearted, I asked him to get to his feet. As image got up wit his mum and others watching, it was still very clear he was still heavily possessed and not yet free. His arms were down at his side and his shoulders were down.
I embraced the young man like I do with my daughters, holding him close and with one hand on his head. As the worship continued and I was praying for him, telling him how much God loves him, it started to rain. It hadn’t rained up until that moment today. The Lord ask me to declare that His living waters are coming into him. It was a truly beautiful moment to be living in, high up in this mountain.
I began praying in the spirit with my eyes closed as everyone continued worshipping led by Ben, with a Rwandan worship song they were all singing. It was incredibly powerful.
After maybe 10 minutes, I let go of embracing the young boy, and everyone looked at him. He still wasn’t free. He was still carting the spirit of heaviness, and he couldn’t smile or lift his arms. His head was still down.
The Lord asked me to ask Ben to tell the boy:
“God wants you to know He has sent us up to this mountain today specifically for you, because of how much He loves you.
Ben translated this to the boy, then SUDDENLY he raised both his arms to the air and shouted
“Amen amen hallelujah!!!” with a big smile on his face.
He was FREE, ALL glory to God!
Everyone was joyful, and as the worship continued everyone joined including the young boy who was glowing and beaming, looking around at everyone. It was a celebration time of worship, utterly glorious. The boy was clapping, lifting his arms up praising God
Around 10 minutes later one of the 4 women asked Ben to ask me if I would pray for all of them, as they have suffered a lot in their life, there are other afflictions they have been battling with, and they want to truly break free from the oppression they have all experienced during their lives.
The Lord said to me”
“Paul, read and declare over them the verses I took you to earlier before you had spoken to them and started praying for the young boy.”
As I read each line, Ben translated and they all stood in agreement saying amen with increasing authority.
It was a truly miraculous experience for everyone of us.
This was the 1st time Jesus had used me to heal someone who was demon possessed, and I give God all the glory, praise and honour.
It was a day that none of us will forget.
